This competition is now closed.

The UEFA Champions League group stages are back! Excited? You should be…!

Thanks to HTC, you could be at Manchester City’s first home match of their UEFA Champions League campaign against Roma.

To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to Manchester City’s match against Roma at The Etihad on Tuesday 30th September, we want your thoughts on the competition’s goal scorers.

Q: Which goal scorer will have the biggest impact in this season’s UEFA Champions League and why?

The usual suspects include the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Zlatan and Costa – but will a striker take the group stages by storm and be the competition’s top goal scorer despite their team not making it to the last 16?

Cristiano Ronaldo was the competition's top goal scorer last season - can he do it again?

Looks like Neymar will be the main man this year as far as the Champions league is concerned.
Although as a Man City fan I’m hoping that if Aguero stays fit he can push Neymar all the way

DESTRO. He stays central in the front line for roma and doesn’t need to score a goal from half way to impress anyone but he puts the ball in the back of the net which is good enough . I believe he will easily score every home game for roma and even against man city’s weak defense he could even put two away for roma.

Aguero will be the top scorer, as long as City get to the 1/4 finals. He looks fitter than before, and when fit always scores. City will treat him carefully to make sure he is fit for the Champions league, even if that means resting him for League games. He has the best goals-per-minute ratio in the premier league, City are much more solid this season and will give him lots of chances in the Champions league.

Gervinho, since moving to Roma he’s been very impressive and also performed and scored in the World Cup, I think he could have a really big impact on this years champions league because if the matches are very stretched which you expect the Roma vs Bayern and City matches to be he could have a huge impact on the matches on the counter by using his pace, and he’s always in the right positions if he takes his chances he could get a couple goals in the group stages alone.

  5. I can see Bale rising to the challenge especially with concerns over Ronaldo’s fitness. Not to mention Bale has bulked up and looks like he’s training better; add in that he should be better settled in Madrid and getting better with the language then Bale’s part to play for Real Madrid could be huge. However you can’t really narrow these things down to just one player for example Diego Costa appears to fit well with Chelsea and certainly an upgrade on Torres, a huge signing for them and as a Man City fan I’d have to say Jovetic (if he stays fit) could be one to watch, from his social media posts to his performances on the pitch it seems clear he wants to work hard for the team and the fans to make up for his injury stricken season last year – that dedication to prove yourself to the fans could impact hugely on the pitch and on Man City’s Champions League campaign.

  6. LEWANDOWSKI for Bayern Munich.
Leading the line for the German champions gives him a great chance to bag plenty.
With the likelyhood of getting to the final stages I think he’ll end up with the golden boot.
Although I hope he keeps from scoring against my team City!

  7. Hoping aguero will rack up the goals – he’s got the speed and agility to run rings around even the most solid defence when he’s at his best. C’mon citeh!

  8. Robert Lewandowski…… He will get plenty of chances with a top quality team
    behind him.

  9. Aguero – an awesome talent in the light Blue of City @brantwoodmcsc

  10. Ronaldo to be the star man man for me as he is the complete footballer. He has pace, excellent heading ability and a keen eye for goal as shown by his prolific striking rate for Real. Real Madrid have such an amazing array of talent and have a good chance of getting to the final.

  11. I think Bale will be the main man this year. Not having had a world cup will mean he is “fresh” whilst the pressure will have gone after last year. If Aguero can get and stay fit then City will do well.

  13. Muller couse he done brill for germany in world cup and the players around him are better n they kniw how he plays.
