80: Caroline Seger
Seger rolled back the years in 2018 and continued to show the gifts that have long since marked her out among Europe’s top midfielders. She only scored three league goals during the year but her role in Rosengard’s title charge went much further than that. What could have been a crucial strike in the deciding final-day clash at Gothenburg was ultimately for nothing but it does not take away from another superb year for the 33-year-old. She also continued to be important for Sweden, and it seems the world will be able to enjoy a quality player on the biggest stage one last time next summer.
Jonas Eidevall, FC Rosengard manager:
“Caroline has a great presence on the pitch. Always looking for the ball and always confident to solve even the tightest situations. Her leadership qualities are essential for any team and she will always do every single detail that is needed to win the game.”
Peter Gerhardsson, Sweden head coach:
“Caroline is the captain of our team and also of FC Rosengard. She has a good balance between defensive and offensive play and she’s been very good in terms of her decision making.”
