90: Stina Blackstenius

The talented Blackstenius remains one of Europe’s top young strikers but appeared to be a victim of Montpellier’s indifferent form this year. She found the net only three times in the second half of last season and took a while to open her account this time around, but did so in style with a five-goal haul in the recent thrashing of Metz. Five goals for Sweden made for a solid 2018 overall but more can be expected from Blackstenius down the line.

Jean-Louis Saez, Montpellier manager:

“Stina is a powerful striker very good in one-on-one situations. She moves really well between the lines and uses the space to create opportunities. She is a very complete player but must progress further in front of goal.”

Peter Gerhardsson, Sweden head coach:

“Stina is a striker but with also a very good defensive capacity. She’s hard working and a player who makes many high-speed runs during the games. She’s also a very good finisher.”
