97. Katrine Veje

2017 could scarcely have gone better for flying Danish winger Katrine Veje. Starting the season with Brondby back in her homeland, Veje went on to make a name for herself with a string of good performances at Euro 2017 as Denmark surprised Europe by reaching the final.

Veje started every single game of Denmark’s trip to the final on the left wing, and her performances were enough for French side Montpellier to snap her up after the tournament.

The 26-year-old has wasted no time in making an impact in France, assisting several goals for her team mates as Montpellier look once again to beat PSG to a Champions League spot come the end of the season.

Jean-Louis Saez, Montpellier HSC manager says: “Katrine is technically a player that can beat anyone. She has an excellent left foot and excels at crosses into the box for our strikers. Her ability means she is able to beat opponents on the wing and use her pace for our gain.”

Sofie Junge Pedersen, Veje’s team mate with Denmark says: “Katrine is so good at one on one dribbling and she has a really good left foot. But she’s also important in defence because she makes many runs back to help her left back. Off the pitch she is a really funny team mate to be around and even at her lowest level this season, her performances have still been really good.”

Janice Cayman, Veje’s team mate at Barcelona says: “Katrine is the vice-European Champion of our team. She is a talented left footed player and she is strong technically and has a good shot on her. She is an important player for the Danish national team, controlling their left side completely.

Nils Nielsen, former Denmark head coach says: “Katrine Veje is our number one assist player. A left winger with great speed and fine crosses. She defends very well too, and can be used in the back line as well. A very strong international player who has had a great year.”
