The FA Women’s Premier League is Back! Stuart Dick Rounds-Up Every Result So Far

FAWPL Northern Division One side Mossley Hill scored the upset of the round, beating last season’s Premier League North runners-up Preston North End 2-1. Hill took the lead thanks to a strike from Carla Lee before Jade Parker equalised for Preston.  Shelley James then converted a 83rd minute penalty for Mossley Hill who advance to next round.

Elsewhere cup-holders Sheffield FC beat Rotherham United 5-1 in a Yorkshire derby, Jodie Michalska scoring twice for last year’s double winners. Southern Premier League champions Coventry City, who have coincidentally been moved to the Northern Division for 2014/15, secured a 7-1 victory over Division One side Liverpool Marshalls Feds.

Northern Premier league sides Bradford City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers all scrapped past lower league opposition, with Wolves and Forest only securing a next round place in extra time. In the two all-Northern Premier League ties Trevor Benjamin’s Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers beat Huddersfield Town and Stoke City respectively. Sporting Club Albion beat Midlands side Loughborough Students 7-0.

Southern Premier League side Gillingham Ladies won 15-0 against Ebbsfleet in the biggest scoreline of the round, whilst Charlton Athletic, Plymouth Argyle, Lewes, Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur all beat Division One opponents.

South West Division One side Chichester City held Southern Premier League Queens Park Rangers to a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes, lost 4-2 on penalties.

Portsmouth beat Copeswood Coventry 4-2, whilst Keynsham Town beat Julian Dicks-led West Ham United 3-1 in the all Southern Premier League ties.

In the all Division One ties, Tranmere Rovers, Steel City Wanderers, Middlesborough, Norton & Stockton, Guiseley, FC Reedswood, Cambridge, Denham United, Forest Green Rovers, Ipswich Town, Leicester City Women, Luton Town and C&K Basildon advanced to the next round.
