Premier League Predictions: Manchester United to bounce back, but more misery for Liverpool and Newcastle United
By Mark Young.
The relegation battle continues as Everton welcome Sunderland and Newcastle face Baggies, while Crystal Palace take on Manchester United on Saturday evening. On Sunday, Manchester City face QPR who have to win to stay up before champions Chelsea will be greeted with a guard of honour by Liverpool but can Reds spoil the party?
This week Mark takes on The Offside Rule’s very own Anna-Louise Adams . . .

Everton have been in decent form in recent weeks but lost at Aston Villa last Saturday as they were taken apart by Christian Benteke but they will probably find it a little easier against a less physical attack.
While Sunderland beat Southampton to give the club a big chance of Premier League survival, they weren’t convincing in their victory.
Romelu Lukaku looked back to some kind of form last weekend as he slotted away a cool penalty. The Toffees should win this with a bit to spare as Roberto Martinez has let the shackles off in recent weeks.
Anna-Louise Adams’ Prediction
Everton 3-1 Sunderland
Sunderland are fighting for their lives but they had a lucky win last week and Everton will see them off on Saturday.
Newcastle 0-1 West Brom
Magpies are in meltdown with eight defeats in a row being rounded off with a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Leicester City last Saturday. Now teams will fancy catching them.
West Brom, on the other hand, are ticking along nicely. Safe from the drop and after a win at Old Trafford last weekend, they’re favourites for this contest – despite the supposed home advantage at Newcastle.
With some people stating it could do Newcastle the world of good to go down, Baggies could help them on their path with a victory on Saturday.
Anna-Louise Adams’ Prediction
Newcastle 0-2 West Brom
Given the sorry state that Newcastle are in I really can’t see them getting a win over a confident West Brom. I’m going for an away win.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester United
Three losses in a row for Manchester United combined with no goals scored has caused a slight air of panic amongst the Old Trafford faithful but they’ll have been boosted by the news of Memphis Depay’s signing.
Some of the United players need to step up with their shaky defence set to come up against a former team-mate Wilfried Zaha, who will be looking to make an impression against his former side, and Yannick Bolasie.
Liverpool have slipped up on a couple of occasions meaning that Louis van Gaal’s men are one victory away from confirming their top-four status and I predict they will here.
Anna-Louise Adams’ Prediction
Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester United
United want to secure a top-four spot and I see Van Gaal nipping this blip of form in the bud with a big away win.
Manchester City 3-1 QPR
It could finally be curtains for QPR this weekend as their fight to survive the drop looks all but over and with nothing less than three points needed away to Manchester City, it looks mission impossible.
Rangers have battled well but have not had the quality this season, with only one victory on the road. Charlie Austin has been fantastic for them but his confidence will have been dented after missing that vital penalty against West Ham.
City have quietly picked up some form over recent weeks with a good 1-0 win at Tottenham showing some solidity at the back for the club and with top scorer Sergio Aguero hungry for more, it could be a slow and painful end for Rangers.
Anna-Louise Adams’ Prediction
Manchester City 3-0 QPR
I can’t see QPR staying up and City want to stay above Arsenal, so there’s only one winner for me. I can’t see QPR scoring either so it’ll be a big win.
Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool
The champions host last season’s runners-up at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon with the Blues ready for a party after wrapping up the title last week.
Liverpool are currently in fifth position and looking to put the pressure on Untied for fourth place but they will have to beware of the threat of superstars Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard.
I’m tipping another win for Jose Mourinho’s men, who will be free to entertain now the EPL trophy is in the bag, and can consign the Reds into the Europa League.
Anna-Louise Adams’ Prediction
Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool
Chelsea have already won the title, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t play to beat Liverpool. I’m going for a Blues win and clean sheet.
