78. Svenja Huth

At 26, Svenja Huth is now in the peak of her career, but the hotshot Germany striker will look back at 2017 with a certain amount of frustration.

Injury 39 minutes into Germany’s opening match of Euro 2017 against Sweden ensured the Turbine Potsdam striker didn’t play another minute of the tournament, but two goals in a recent friendly win against France served as a reminder to Steffi Jones of her abilities.

Huth ended the 2016-17 season for Potsdam with seven goals as the team narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification, but Huth will be hoping to bounce back from summer disappointment and get back to scoring regularly in 2018.

Elise Kellond-Knight, Huth’s Turbine Potsdam team mate says:

“Although Sveni is quite a small player, she is deceptively athletic and has a real striker’s instinct.  She is clinical in front of goal and rarely misses any opportunity to score. She likes to play a really high tempo game and use her speed to her advantage. This season has seen her put in some really great performances for her country and her goal against France will not be forgotten anytime soon.”

Adam Barlow, European women’s football writer says:

“Turbine Potsdam had a great season in the Bundesliga last year and striker Huth played a big part in that. The club may have missed out on the qualifying for the Champions league, but Huth played a starting role upfront and remains one of the most popular players in the Frauen Bundesliga.”
