84. Vicky Losada

Up nine places from 2016, Vicky Losada is now in the peak years of her career and playing back at Spain’s top elite club.

FC Barcelona has invested heavily in its women’s team throughout 2017, but the quality and class Losada brings in midfield is as important as any other signing they made during the summer.

Losada scored in friendlies for Spain against Belgium (twice) and Brazil, before a classy finish against Portugal at Euro 2017 reminded the rest of Europe what she’s all about.

The midfielder won the Algarve Cup at the start of the year and she’s ended it top of La Liga with Barcelona, all in all a good year for the former Arsenal star.

Fran Sanchez Bas, FC Barcelona manager:

“Vicky is a great character and she does so much running in the centre of the pitch. Vicky is the kind of player who finds it easy to organise, she plays the team game and she offers us a lot both going forward and at the back.”

Natalia Pablos, former Arsenal and Spain team mate:

“Vicky is one of the most complete players in Spain. She’s a luxury player to have on your team and a nightmare to have on the team against you and she’s a real leader on and off the field. Last year she returned to Barcelona and brought the team quality, experience and balance.”

Laura Del Rio, former Spain team mate:

“Vicky has such good vision during play, she’s good with both feet, she can tackle and she’s strong. She takes a good free-kick and she can surprise the opponent by turning up in the box to score, all in all a really good player.”
