88. Griedge Mbock
2017 was another year where Griedge Mbock continued to enhance her reputation as one of the top young centre backs in women’s football.
Still just 22, Mbock was an integral part of the Lyon side that once again dominated, winning the treble, including the defence of their Champions League trophy in Cardiff.
Mbock’s year started off with a SheBelieves Cup triumph with France, but Euro 2017 ended in defeat to England at the quarter-final stage.
Mbock showed her confidence and composure to step up as the fourth penalty taker for Lyon in the Champions League final and the centre back is only going to get better over the next few years.

“Griedge is becoming an important part of Lyon so fast and she is a really nice person. She is really a good young player, she is confident with the ball for a young defender. Griedge can play short or long ball to change the game and she has got a good head game for free-kicks and set pieces.”

“Griedge is a force of nature. She was noticed very early thanks to her physical qualities and her defensive solidity. Her athletic profile and speed make her very difficult to eliminate in a one against one situation. Griedge is also a very good header of the ball and her technical accuracy is excellent.”
