17. Camille Abily

One of the most experienced players in the game, the classy Camille Abily waved goodbye to international football in emotional fashion this year, but was still at very best for Lyon.

10 goals and six assists in the 2016-17 campaign helped Lyon to an historic treble and the midfielder is already on six assists again for the current season.

Abily scored in a tense penalty shootout in the Champions League final in Cardiff, whilst she captained France to the SheBelieves Cup at the beginning of the year.

Continuing to show her class at the European Championships, Abily’s international career ended when France were knocked out by England at the quarter-final stage.

Lucy Bronze, Lyon team mate says:

“The best players in the world have the ability to make the players around them look and play better, this is Cam. She is the one player who could piece any team together. There was literally a sigh of relief from every other country in the world when Cam retired from international football.”

Corine Petit, Lyon team mate says:

“Camille is the player with the most experience. She is really passionate and a perfectionist with the game and the football. She is important in a squad, in or out of the team. She speaks with all her team mates and wants to give her experience. In 2017, she was really wonderful with her free-kick, both with the club and the national team.”

Sandrine Dusang, former team mate and France international says:

“Camille is probably one of the most talented players I’ve ever played with. She is a player with a technique and vision in the game that is above average. She is also very intelligent, both in the distribution of the game and in her placement. Camille has always been talented and has confirmed it through the seasons.”
