25: Tobin Heath

A year broken up by injuries meant Heath only started 16 games for Portland as they looked to defend their NWSL title, but her impact at key moments showed her capabilities. She only had three goals to her name as Thorns’ campaign reached the business end but then sparked into life, proving her big-game quality with four goals in the final four games of the regular season and an important strike in the play-off semi-final against Seattle Reign. Heath also scored seven times for the USA during an unbeaten 2018, bringing her overall tally to 14 goals for 2018.

Mark Parsons, Portland Thorns manager:

“Tobin is one of, if not the most dynamic and exciting wingers in the women’s game and showed that this season. She is quick, skillful, creative and a goal scorer. After only playing 3/4 of the games she delivered her most productive NWSL season with 7 goals and 7 assists. Her ability to hurt opponents in so many ways and perform at her best in the biggest games led the Thorns back to a championship game.”
