67: McCall Zerboni

An otherwise successful year for Zerboni was sadly curtailed by injury. She played a pivotal role for North Carolina Courage during their march towards the NWSL title but then fractured her elbow in USA’s friendly against Chile and did not play again beyond September. The midfielder enhanced her reputation in 2018, popping up with three domestic goals, but she has always been more highly valued for her all-round qualities. After making her international debut at the end of 2017, she made another seven appearances at that level this year.

Paul Riley, North Carolina Courage manager:

“The engine room of any team. A crafty, clever workaholic with a fabulous mentality. Box to box midfielder that possesses a ton of valuable tools which includes ball winning, reading of the game, range of passing, skill and goal scoring ability.”
