Top 100 2019 Ingrid Engen

Classy midfielder Engen was always destined for big things and it doesn’t get a lot bigger than playing for your country at a World Cup just after turning 21 and swapping your home country for a giant in Wolfsburg. Engen did both those things in quick succession in 2019 but her ability to dictate and provide for an exciting attack in front of her at both club and country level should provide her with the perfect platform to continue improving. Engen helped put LSK on the path to another Toppserien title before joining Wolfsburg where she’s quickly established herself as a first team regular. She’s slowly adding goals to her game too, finding the net three times for Norway since the summer where she played and impressed in all five games at the World Cup. A big future awaits.

Martin Sjogren, Norway head coach:

“In my opinion Ingrid is one of the most promising young players there is in Europe at the moment. She has developed into a great central midfielder by improving her offensive skills very much during the last year. Her physical ability is great, and makes her a player that is good in covering lots of space defensively, and also great in the air and in duels. Her move from the Norwegian league to the top side Wolfsburg has been has been very good for her, and this is a player that will be extremely important for Norway for the next 10-12 years. I think she will be climbing this list as well!”
