10. Ada Hegerberg

Last year’s winner slips back to the other end of the top 10 in 2017 after a tale of two campaigns struck Ada Hegerberg in 2017.

Still one of the best players in the world for her age, Hegerberg enjoyed another sensational year with Lyon in France, but for Norway it was a whole other story.

Hegerberg seemed to settle nicely into a new regime for her country, scoring in La Manga against England and against Iceland at the Algarve Cup, but that was as good as it would get.

A European Championships where Hegerberg and Norway failed to find the net was the catalyst for the forward to take a temporary step back from the national team.

For Lyon, Hegerberg ended the 2017 season with another three trophies to her name as the French side won the treble, with Hegerberg scoring 20 league goals.

She’s already well on to beat that tally this season, sitting on 18 already as we only just reach the halfway stage of the campaign, six clear of her nearest rival.

Martin Sjögren, Norway head coach says:

“Ada is a great player that shows her top skills and qualities in the opponents box. A powerful player that can score goals in many different ways.”

Lucy Bronze, Lyon team mate says:

“Ada is one of the rare finds in women’s football. In essence a ‘target striker’ because of her tall powerful stature, which has the best defenders in the world struggling to get the ball off her. But add the fact that this girl scores goals for fun; a finish inside the box, a towering head, or a finesse strike from 25 yards. She’s got it all.”

Katja Kragelund, Scandinavian women’s football writer says:

“The prolific Norwegian striker won three trophies with Lyon before the summer; the league, the cup and the Champions League and she has been as a woman possessed in the second half the year. Since the summer, she has scored 15 goals in 10 league games and an incredible 13 goals in four Champions League appearances. She has truly shown herself to be one of the best strikers in the game.
