Midweek Bets – Goals at Stoke and Liverpool to comfortably beat Burnley
Liam Smith gives his best tips for the midweek fixtures in the Premier League, Championship, League One and Two.
Stoke v Everton – over 2.5 goals
Everton danger man Romelu Lukaku has been in fine form in the Europa League – but as the saying goes, ‘can he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?’ I think he can, albeit on Wednesday . . . Although I believe the Toffees are far too strong for Mark Hughes’s men and will bounce back from their Arsenal defeat, Stoke won’t go down without a fight. This Premier League game could be a goal fest.
Best odds – 13/10 (888 Sport).
Liverpool v Burnley – 3-0 win in favour of Liverpool
Liverpool have finally turned on the style following a disappointing start to the campaign and are now aiming to leapfrog Manchester United into fourth place in the Premier League. Burnley are fighting to stay up but look a very weak side compared to the star-studded Reds line-up. I reckon the hosts will add to their goal difference with a big win over lowly Clarets.
Best odds – 19/2 (Bet Victor). £19 for every £2 you put on.
Middlesbrough v Millwall – Patrick Bamford first goal scorer
Title-chasing Middlesbrough have had many close promotion calls in recent years, but they finally look set to make a return to the top flight. The hosts showcase one of the finest striker forces in the Championship with Kike and Chelsea kid Patrick Bamford leading the line for the club. Millwall fans are starting to turn on manager Ian Holloway, as poor results have put them in the danger zone. Bamford will be looking to once again add to his goal tally – and catch the eye of Jose Mourinho.
Best Odds – 51 /1 (Bet 365).
Rochdale v Crewe – Crewe win
Rochdale have slipped to 15th after suffering two League One defeats in a row and look to have lost their backbone following the winger Matt Done’s departure to Sheffield United. Crewe, meanwhile, have picked up some decent results and Nicky Ajose has been scoring goals for fun recently. Bury fan Ajose will be well up for this one against their rivals and I predict a good win for the visitors.
Best Odds – 15/4 (BetVictor)
Bury v Luton – Bury to win by 2 goals
Bury’s season looked in freefall at the end of last year, but they have turned it around with an impressive start to 2015 in League Two. David Flitcroft’s men will be looking to build on an impressive 2-0 victory over Plymouth by beating promotion rivals Luton. The hosts have the chance to improve their goal difference and close the gap on the top three with a couple of strikes.
Best odds – 11/2 (SkyBet). You will receive £11 for every £2 you put on.
