Liam Smith gives his tips on a selection of games from the Premier League, Championship, and League Two.
Manchester United v West Brom – Wayne Rooney first goalscorer
Manchester United suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time under Louis van Gaal last weekend, while West Brom are still fighting to secure their place in the league. But United will be fired up for this game as they look to bounce back from their most recent slip-up at Everton. Wayne Rooney is an injury doubt but if he plays and puts in a good performance, then they are certain to overwhelm this poor Baggies side.
Best Odds – 13/3 (Coral).
West Ham v Burnley – over 2.5 goals
Burnley look set to go straight back down from the Premier League following some poor results recently, while West Ham have had a decent season and currently sit in 11th position in the table. The relegation-threatened Clarets have more to play for and will want to score some early goals to give the fans a lift. Both sides have goal threats in their teams, but we should discover this weekend if Sean Dyche’s men have any fight left in the tank.
Best odds – 10/15 (Bet365).
Watford v Sheffield Wednesday – 3-1 win in favour of Watford
Watford can win the title this weekend after achieving their long-held dream of promotion from the Championship. Top scorer Troy Deeney has fired them to within touching distance of glory, but I’m sure Sheffield Wednesday would love to spoil the party. Still the hosts look too strong and prepared for this game, so I can see them running out as convincing winners here.
Best odds – 15/1 (Paddy Power). £15 for every £1 you put on.
Tranmere Rovers v Bury – Bury win
The race for third place in League Two comes down to the last game of the season as Bury need to win – and Southend slip-up – to gain an automatic promotion spot. David Flitcroft and his players travel to an already relegated Tranmere Rovers, who are playing only for pride. The visitors should triumph here and will then look to results elsewhere. Whatever happens, this is going to be exciting.
Best Odds – 4/16 (Sky Bet).
Morecambe v Southend United – Morecambe to win by 1 goal
Southend have hit some fine form and having not conceded a goal in seven games, climbed into third place in League Two last weekend. Hard-working Morecambe, meanwhile, beat another promotion-chasing side, Wycombe, last Saturday and are looking for back-to-back wins. I can see the hosts winning here and Bury claiming third place.
Best odds – 4/1 (BetVictor). You will receive £4 for every £1 you put on.
