The international break is over and with some Premier League scorchers in store this weekend, it’s safe to say we are happy to see it back. This week, beIN Sports presenter Nicky Crosby hopes to give Mark Young a run for his money.
Everton 1-2 Chelsea
It all kicks off on Saturday lunch time as Jose Mourinho takes his struggling Chelsea side to Goodison Park to face Everton.
With a former Chelsea striker up front, Everton will be looking upon this fixture quite confidently as they can come out with a positive result. Romelu Lukaku has a point to prove to his former employers and would love to show Mourinho what he is missing by turning in a top class performance.
The other story concerns a man named John Stones. The young England international was courted by the Blues throughout a huge chunk of the summer with Everton unwilling to budge. Stones was involved in both matches for England during the international break and will be going up against a stern challenge on Saturday.
Chelsea have struggled so far, picking up four points in four games. The Toffees were beaten by Crystal Palace before the break and will be looking to get back on track here and they may just edge it.
Nicky Crosby’s Prediction: Everton 1-2 Chelsea
Arsenal 1-0 Stoke City
Arsenal will be looking for their first home win of the season on Saturday with Stoke the next visitors to North London.
Arsene Wenger’s side have struggled at home so far with only one point picked up from their opening two fixtures and are even yet to score in front of their home fans. It took an own goal to beat ten man Newcastle before the international break for the Gunners and it is likely to be a tight affair once again when the new, expansive Potters play them.
Stoke finished with nine men in their 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom. They are solid and with added flair in their forward areas they are a threat, potentially away from home, counter attacking on a big pitch could work in their favour but Arsenal may just get the better of them with a lone goal win.
Nicky Crosby’s Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Stoke City
Crystal Palace 2-2 Manchester City
Manchester City are by far and above the best team in the league based on the first four league matches but they face the second best in Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Citizens have won all four Premier League matches so far this season without conceding a goal. They sit three points clear at the top of the table with Crystal Palace in second.
The Eagles’ last outing was a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge and they can carry that kind of form forward with City coming to town. The options that Alan Pardew has at the moment are fantastic with the likes of Bolasie, Puncheon, Zaha and Sako all battling for places.
City have proved a tough nut to crack for all sides faced so far this season but Pardew may well get a point as the City clean sheet run is set to be broken.
Nicky Crosby’s Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester City
Norwich City 1-2 Bournemouth
Norwich and Bournemouth meet on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road as two newly promoted clubs battle out in what could be deemed an early season six pointer. Both sides are starting to come to terms with what it is like to play in the Premier League and what they need to do survive after both claimed fantastic promotions in their own right.
Norwich were looking to build on their home point with Stoke when they went to Southampton in game week three but an early red card put that to the sword as the Saints carried out a 3-0 win.
Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth have won one of their opening four fixtures when they defeated West Ham 4-3 at the Boleyn Ground, They followed that up with a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester and have since added Glenn Murray to their attack. The Cherries will be up for this with four goals wonder Callum Wilson in attack and they should sneak a win.
Nicky Crosby’s Prediction: Norwich City 2-2 Bournemouth
Manchester United 2-0 Liverpool
Both Manchester United and Liverpool have the same number of points after four games of the season gone as both strike forces struggle to find the net.
Liverpool conceded their first goals of the season in their previous premier league outing as they went down 3-0 at home to West Ham as last season’s defensive fragilities were back at the fore.
United had also kept three clean sheets before being undone by Swansea in a 2-1 loss at the Liberty Stadium. They now have England’s record goal scorer on the pitch with the fans obviously delighted that star goal keeper David De Gea will be staying at the club. United did the double over their rivals last year and there is no reason to not see how they can’t continue their recent good form over the Merseysiders.
Nicky Crosby’s Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool
