Weekend Bets: Stoke to beat West Ham, Romelu Lukaku can’t stop scoring for Everton and Watford carry on their impressive start to the season

With the Champions League action out of the way, it’s time to turn our attention to finding the bankers for this weekend. Here are Kurt Bristoll’s best bets from the Premier League, Championship and La Liga.

Norwich v Everton – Lukaku to score at any time

Romelu Lukaku is in blistering form at the moment; his 11 league goals this season is second only to Leicester’s Jamie Vardy. Now he is on a run of six goals in five league games, he may possibly have an eye on the record that Vardy has only recently set. On Monday, Lukaku grabbed his 50th goal in 100 appearances for Everton, which is an incredible strike rate for the 22-year-old Belgian. Playing against a frail Norwich defence that have conceded 27 goals already this season, I think we can expect to see Lukaku score again in this one.

Best odds: 7/5 with Paddy Power.

West Ham v Stoke – Stoke to win

Stoke City go into this game after a fantastic 2-0 win at home against Man City, as well as having won four out of their last five games in all competitions. After a great start to the season, West Ham seem to have had a rough time as of late, having not won any of their last five matches, drawing three and losing two. With the attacking threat of Bojan, Marko Arnautovic, and Xherdan Shaqiri, it’s a surprise that Stoke have scored the joint fewest goals in the league this season, and yet they are still grinding out wins. I expect the Potters to just edge past Hammers here.

Best odds: 9/4 with Betfred.

Sunderland v Watford – Watford to win

Watford will be very happy with how their season is going; they are 10th in the Premier League, and are nine points clear of the relegation zone. Their struggling opponents, Sunderland, yet again find themselves in a battle to avoid relegation in 19th. Watford are the only team in the league that’s won two games in a row at the moment and have some real momentum going into this one. With Troy Deeney having scored in his last four games, it looks like they could take another three points at the Stadium of Light.

Best odds: 17/10 with Coral.

Derby v Brighton – Derby to win

It’s first versus third in the Championship this Saturday, and it looks like it should be a great game. Derby have won their last five home games in the league and are in great form going into this one. Meanwhile, Brighton are yet to be beaten this season, which is very impressive after 19 league games. The Seagulls were lucky to avoid defeat last week against Charlton after being 2-0 down but somehow came back to win 3-2. However, I’m tipping Brighton’s unbeaten run to come to an end – and that Derby will blow the title race wide open.

Best odds: 21/20 with Coral.

Villarreal v Real Madrid – Real Madrid to win

Villarreal host Real Madrid in an intriguing encounter in La Liga on Sunday. The home side are in 5th place as it stands, and are on a good run of form, having won four out of their five last home games. Real Madrid are in 3rd place, but will be looking to make up some ground on Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Los Blancos thrashed Malmo 8-0 in the Champions League and will be hoping to take that momentum into this game. Although it won’t be easy against a well-organised Villarreal team, I expect Madrid to take all three points.

Best odds: 8/11 with Betfred.
