43. Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir

After having won several major trophies during her time in Sweden with FC Rosengård, Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir made the move to Wolfsburg last year and hasn’t looked back.

A classy midfielder on the ball, the 27-year-old has already won both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal with her new side, justifying her move to Germany.

Gunnarsdóttir also had the proud moment of leading her country out at their first major tournament in the summer, a moment to remember despite Iceland’s early exit.

Stephan Lerch, Wolfsburg manager says:

“With Sara’s willpower, she is a leader and fighter for the team, also Sara is insanely an strong fighter and has a really good head game.”

Freyr Alexandersson, Iceland head coach says:

“In my opinion, the best holding midfielder in the game. Sara wins almost every duel, she has really good vision and the strongest mentality.”
