18. Crystal Dunn
Playing a pivotal role for both club and country, Dunn’s success this year in terms of both silverware and her personal level of performance makes 2019 one of her best years yet. In just 15 league games, Dunn found the net nine times and assisted several more goals and her overall play whether in defence, midfield or attack show just what a quality player she is and has been this year. There were some questions asked about her role at left-back with the USA heading into the World Cup but Dunn proved to be an exemplary choice in defence, her energy allowing to mix attack with defence as the USA won their second straight World Cup.
Paul Riley, North Carolina Courage manager:
“Crystal is a game changer with skill, speed and ability to unlock opponents. Her role for the Courage emphasises her strengths and natural attacking nature. She is dynamic in the final third and she had a tremendous 2019 putting some great numbers on the board.”
