24. Christiane Endler
What a year it was for Christiane Endler. It was fairly common knowledge Endler was a superstar of a goalkeeper and while she’s often shared duties at PSG with Katarzyna Kiedrzynek, Endler came into her own at the World Cup for Chile. Making their World Cup bow, Endler likely knew she would be up against it in France but she was superb throughout, doing all she could to keep Sweden at bay for 83 minutes while a string of unbelievable saves against the USA gained her plenty of recognition. Endler’s performances earned her a nomination for the Best Goalkeeper of the Year alongside Van Veenendaal and Lindahl and she has now firmly established herself as one of the best in the world.
Jose Letelier, Chile head coach:
“Christiane has immense relevance with our national team, which has trascended into huge interest for women’s football in Chile. The media has showed interest in the game and girls from very young ages are starting playing football because of Christiane’s strong figure. She has shown to be competitive both in club level with PSG and at national team level. Her capacities are not only technical and related to the game, but she also shows constant dedication and passion for what she does. Add to that the unprecedented success we have experienced this year as a team, like going to our first World Cup and winning an international tournament in Brazil, and you have enough reasons to crown her as one of the best.”
